As a veteran and current spouse, in our 19th year of service, I am honored by your sacrifice. It is a challenging road, not taken by most.
Sacrifice is not just movie scale items we think most often about but the small, hard daily sacrifices. You sacrifice normal. You do not have a favorite barber, you do not know where a dentist is, you do not know where the nearest ER is, you cannot find the playgrounds & parks, you do not have steady friendships, you do not know your neighbors. You do not see your family, your children do not have traditions, they do not have long term childhood friends. Your spouse does not have a support system. You do not have roots.
We have each other.
We are each others families while away. We are each others neighbors, brief as it is. Your children have a unique perspective and are tough. Your spouse is amazing. Stay encouraged and love each other. Your roots are in patriotism; in America. Your roots are in your home.
Regardless of what the media says, America has your back. We salute you and all your sacrifices, big and small.
We salute the families that have given all.
America thanks you for answering your call to service.
